The ID of the person committing the economic offense will be linked to the Aadhaar card while the ID of the company will be linked to the PAN card. According to the news, there are about 2.5 lakh such criminals who will be given this ID. This list has been prepared by the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau.
These people can include people like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi. This ID will be made not only for industries and industrialists but also for politicians who commit economic crimes. The purpose of issuing this ID is to speed up the investigation by various agencies against criminals. The code will be formally called the Unique Economic Offender Code. This will be an alpha numeric code. This means that it will contain both English letters and numbers.
